After fee reduction, popular investment now just 1 basis point
Oct 12, 2023
One of Vanguard Charitable’s most popular investments now costs just one basis point (or 0.01%).
On September 26, Total U.S. Stock had its expense ratio reduced by 50%. The previous expense ratio was an already-rock-bottom 0.02%. More than one quarter of Vanguard Charitable donor-advised funds (DAFs) invest in Total U.S. stock, and many more have exposure to the investment through our multi-fund Portfolio Solutions.
The fee reduction is expected to lead to $500,000 in annual savings for Vanguard Charitable donors. This money that will now go to hardworking charities across the country and world.
Thanks to the structure of Vanguard Charitable DAFs, donors receive access to lower-cost expense ratios than they would if investing directly in the underlying fund. When Vanguard Charitable qualifies for a lower-cost share class, we immediately pass those savings onto our donors.
We’re proud of our recently expanded investment lineup that offers high quality investments from top to bottom. As the provider of the highest-value donor-advised fund, our mission remains to increase philanthropy and maximize its impact over time. We achieve this by doing all we can to help donors meet their individual giving goals.
