Morocco Earthquake: How to support the disaster relief efforts
Sep 12, 2023
On Friday night, September 8, an earthquake struck Morocco. With a magnitude of 6.8, this powerfully destructive force left buildings and homes toppled while most Moroccans slept, unable to react quickly. While the region has known many small earthquakes, this is the first quake of such a high magnitude in over 120 years.
Since Friday, nearly 3,000 people have been reported dead. Thousands more have been injured due to the disaster. And while the earthquake only lasted seconds, the recovery efforts will require years of work.
In collaboration with Charity Navigator, Vanguard Charitable created the below list of nonprofits. These are trustworthy organizations that are helping those affected by this disaster. If you'd like to give with your donor-advised fund, you'll find more details below about how you can direct grants to help people suffering from the earthquake in Morocco.
