Frequently Asked Questions: Sustainable Disaster-Relief Fund (SDRF)
What is the range of funding provided to nonprofits?
Typically, SDRF grants range from $10,000 to $30,000. Requests can be for full or partial funding.
How many awards are granted from the SDRF each year?
Total grant disbursement is revaluated each granting year so that we can continue to increase impact as the funds’ capacity grows. Due to this, we are not able to share the number of awards we make per year.
Do you fund multi-year projects?
Grants from either fund are one-time payments. Ideally, funds are to be spent within a one-year period, but, if necessary, the grant recipient organization may determine whether to use the funds over multiple years. We recommend applicants request funds based on project need, which is further explained by the project budget attachment.
Do you have any geographic preferences when selecting organizations for grant funding?
There are no geographic preferences for the fund. Both domestic and international projects are eligible.
Is it possible to speak with a representative from the PIF or SDRF regarding my proposal?
Unfortunately, we are unable to speak with organizations about proposals ahead of submission.
When will applicants hear about grant award decisions?
Funding decisions are usually finalized by early July. We will notify your organization at that time if your proposal is selected for funding. Please note that we are unable to provide updates on the status of your application before that timeframe.
May we submit multiple bids for funding?
Each organization may only submit one funding request. If an organization submits multiple applications, only the first application submitted will be considered.
Do you consider organizations that respond to either natural or man-made disasters for funding?
We consider organizations that respond to disasters that are natural or man-made. We are happy to review submissions that use funds for either root cause.
What does the RFP application look like?
You will be asked to create a profile for your organization and complete a funding application for this year’s funding. Registration is a one-time activity.
