Contribute a wide variety of assets to maximize your charitable impact
Contributing assets held at Vanguard directly to a Vanguard Charitable donor-advised fund (DAF) philanthropic account is easy. Once your accounts are linked, you can make contributions directly through vanguard.com.
What are the benefits to Vanguard clients?
- Manage contributions from your Vanguard account.
- Faster contribution transactions with fewer steps.
- Extended contribution timelines for year-end giving.
- Fully automated cost-basis calculations for those with non-managed accounts. Clients with managed PAS accounts can utilize their Vanguard advisor to assist with cost-basis calculations before gifting shares.
Vanguard and Vanguard Charitable partner to make giving assets from your Vanguard account seamless.
I already linked my Vanguard and Vanguard Charitable accounts, but I need a refresher. Jump to: How to make a contribution.
Vanguard Charitable account information will not be visible to Vanguard representatives when accounts are linked. A Vanguard representative who has authorization from you to process a transaction on your behalf will be able to view your Vanguard Charitable account balance and investment allocation through the Vanguard Philanthropic Center as they assist you with entering the transaction. Vanguard Charitable will not have access to any Vanguard account information beyond what is needed to complete the transaction unless authorized by you, the donor. For more information, visit our FAQs.
Once your accounts are linked, log in to vanguard.com to start contributing.
Log in to vanguard.com, choose My Accounts, select Tax Center, then scroll down and click The Vanguard Philanthropic Center to initiate contributions from eligible Vanguard accounts to your Vanguard Charitable philanthropic account(s). Selecting your investment allocation for the contribution and cost basis will be done directly on vanguard.com.
Please note that if you contribute from a joint or trust account, there will be a one-time step to electronically have all account owners consent.
