Emergency relief and recovery efforts for Hurricane Ida

Aug 31, 2021

Hurricane Ida, a powerful category 4 storm with catastrophic, sustained winds of 150 mph, made landfall over Port Fourchon, Louisiana, on Sunday, August 29. The size and strength of the storm brought heavy rains, storm surges, and tornado warnings to neighboring states. By nightfall, Orleans parish, including the City of New Orleans, was plunged into darkness after a critical transmission failure. Complicating matters is the COVID-19 pandemic, as severe outbreaks of the virus and the Delta Variant have left Louisiana hospitals at or near capacity.

As the storm traveled up the East Coast, many states felt its continued power through flooding, power outages, ravaged homes, downed trees, and more. We recommend clicking the charity links below to see where each organization is providing relief efforts in the months to come.

In partnership with Charity Navigator, we are providing a list of highly rated organizations that are supporting relief efforts related to Hurricane Ida. This list is not exhaustive.
